My point of view on Lance's case

Everyone has had their say in the case of Lance Armstrong and I am very surprised on the majority's position. I consider both ends are not being very objective and have been carried away by emotions.
Doping has always been part of professional cycling and now we can see the difference with the biological passport. Why do you think that non of the cyclists who Armstrong defeated, has pronounced with the same vehemence of all the hurted fans? In theory they are the most affected.

The truth is that it was naive to think that Armstrong won without the help of any substance. It was part of the game. But, if doping is part of professional cycling, then I think he was more professional than the rest. But what is the difference between what he did and what we see in our society continually about making more money, fame or reputation? What is the difference between what he did and evade taxes, take advantage of the system or simply abuse the rights of others? Why, if all your opponents have been punished, he pays the higher price? Because he lied? While all his rivals competed under the same conditions? Is that what you expected?Really?

I really think the problem here is not being seen by the vast majority, while focusing on him being a liar or a cheater. The lesson is in the lack of humility. His main enemy was his arrogance and to that we should pay attention. Everyone at some point is tempted to believe he is more than others, either by what he knows, what he has or what he has accomplished. At the end of the day the only victim of his actions is himself. Who really cares if he won 7 times or doped? Our life is not going to change because of that, but it can change if we learn from what arrogance can do to someone and the next time we fall into temptation, stop and try to act attached to our principles and beliefs, trying to be better people , doing good to others and setting a good example to our families and friends.

The beauty of sports is that we all have the right to participate and face ourselves and our weaknesses. Some will be faster than others, some might devote their lives to sports and win some races, but that does not make them more than others. And really, Who cares if you won or lost more than yourself? No one. After a while, nobody cares how big was your victory, only you. It is therefore very important to be at peace and be honest with yourself.

Lance Armstrong was relentless in his career as an athlete, but he certainly was not a great champion and we have known that for a long time. It was just a human being like everyone who fell into temptation and sank into something that was much stronger than himself and his ambitions, the public opinion. He will now have to face the results of his actions like everyone else. In my opinion, he should never compete again and if jail is what the law says, then that will be his punishment.
It's time to turn the page and stop beating a dead horse. Let him carry his own cross. See yourself in that mirror, to avoid errors as his and lets start building better societies.
